I wrote my morning commentary on the gospel portion for today (Mark 11:12-14 and 20-25). I felt as though my close reading of Mark, after several years of studying the history surrounding the life of Yeshua, helped me understand the lesson of the fig tree for the first time.
I’ll say just a little here and try to persuade you to follow the link and read the rest. I really believe Yeshua’s teaching for his disciple community (and thus for our own communities we form as his disciples) is powerful and paradigm-changing. If we truly followed Yeshua’s lessons, such as that of the fig tree, we would change the way we see things and do things. We would understand the meaning of our togetherness and worship in a different way. And in our Messianic Jewish and Judeo-Christian contexts, we would find deeper meaning in the Jewish liturgy and other prayers such as Yeshua gave us (I refer to this in the notes at the end).
Now, did I persuade you? If so, follow this link to read more.
Interesting. Someone from Michael Rood’s organization tried to put up a link here to their website. I spammed the comment which had bad grammar, was followed by a link to the site and a recommendation of its many videos and articles, and which made no comment at all on the content of this post. It said, “Thanks for the article about messianic jew. You might find this website helpful also, [Rood’s website]. It has messianic videos and teachings that inspire the search for truth.”
Hmm, I guess that’s one way to get more traffic at your website.
What’s up, Michael Rood? Care to comment on your staff doing these kinds of things? And, yes, it was someone who had access to your organization’s website as they had an email with the Rood site in the address.
